(BD TOP NEWS BLOG)_ In the rain-affected first ODI at Antigua, West Indies first put up a combined bowling effort and then an Evin Lewis blitzkrieg 94 off 69 balls sealed an easy 8-wicket win for the team over England. Jayden Seales, Matthew Forde, and Alzarri Joseph accounted for two scalps each, while Gudakesh Motie managed four as England were sent packing for 209 runs. Chasing a revised target of 157 in 35 overs, the West Indies closed the match in 25.5 overs to take an early lead in the three-match series.

Rain reduced the game to 18 overs a side, and Lewis set a great tempo in the innings after the delayed start. Actually, he hammered sixes off John Turner and Jofra Archer, as three maximums were plastered in the first ten overs. Brandon King gave equal support as West Indies reached 54/0 at the end of the powerplay.
